Chincoteague workshop

A 14,000-acre National Wildlife Refuge, Chincoteague is a small barrier island off the coast of Virginia and is a nature photographer’s dream. This unspoiled, diverse land of dunes, beaches, marsh and maritime forest provides habitat for over 300 species of birds.

Our November workshop will occur at a perfect time for photographing a variety of waterfowl at this peak time of migration. The explosion of tens of thousands of snow geese at the end of day is a sight to behold. We should see Bald Eagle as well. And, we might just get a glimpse of the famous Chincoteague Ponies.

The landscape in fall is adorned with the red and gold of maple, oak and sweet-gum foliage and the glossy red color of poison ivy in the sand dunes in abrupt contrast to the shoreline’s evergreens. Sunsets are absolutely glorious.

This trip is a must for both the landscape photographer and the birder. Come join us.
